there are 2 basketball players carrying the touch, Greame Lawrence and Beran Tanilir.

Graeme's nomination story

http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/torchbearers/torchbearers=graeme-lawrence-2921/index.html

"Graeme has been a basketball coach to both children and adults between the ages of 3 to 70 in the local comunity for the last 40 years. He has single handedly kept the Beacon Basketball club going for over 40 years, fighting for a court to play on when the Beacon was closed, securing an alternative venue and importantly fighting for court time when the Beacon reopened. Graemes input means a lot to the local community where opportunities for young people are few and far between, he has kept many a youngster on the right track by taking the time not only to coach them basketball but to value then as an individual. Graemes commitment means that he gives up most if his evenings and weekends to coach teams, run tournaments and referee matches. For this commitment I can think of nobody who deservesthe honour of carrying the flame more!!"

Beran's nomination story

http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/torchbearers/torchbearers=mehmet-tanilir-2103/index.html

"Beran exemplifies the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship in all facets of his life. As a completion engineer at BP, Beran brings the pursuit of excellence to his job and pushes himself to perform at the highest level. He demonstrates his commitment to his profession by sharing his knowledge with the engineers of the future and encourages them to work hard to achieve their career ambitions. A native of Turkey, Beran has taken it upon himself to be the unofficial local Aberdeen ambassador, offering assistance and friendship to those BP employees who are new to Aberdeen. This has certainly helped people feel welcome when they first arrive in the city. He has also contributed to the local community by taking part in the annual coast-to-coast cycle rides. To date, these sponsored rides have raised over £315,000 for local charities."
